The transmission is the backbone of your Grand Cherokee, responsible for transmitting large amounts of torque from your V8 or 3.0L EcoDiesel engine. That torque generates significant heat, which can damage your transmission if not properly managed. The stock 8HP transmission cooling system uses an in-line thermal bypass valve to control fluid flow to the transmission cooler, preventing fluid from reaching the cooler until it reaches operating temperature. However, the thermostat in this valve is prone to failure, which can lead to overheating. Mishimoto has developed a CNC-machined aluminum thermal bypass valve upgrade for 2016-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokees. This kit includes a fully serviceable thermostat for faster warm-up in cold climates and a thermostat bypass for constant cooling in warm climates or during extreme driving and towing. Strategically machined internal passages improve fluid flow over the stock valve, while integrated cooling fins enhance heat dissipation. The valve’s durable black anodized finish ensures long-lasting performance.
